Authentic Southern Buttermilk Pie Recipe

This buttermilk pie recipe exclusively uses ingredients from Piggly Wiggly.

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. Beat the butter, salt and sugar together until light.
  3. Add the eggs and beat; then beat-in the vanilla.
  4. Sift the dry ingredients together and add to the batter alternatively with the buttermilk; beat until smooth.
  5. Pour the mixture into a pie shell and bake at 325°F for 50-60 minutes.
  6. Your pie should turn a nice, golden brown and a knife inserted should come out clean.
  7. Let the pie cool for an hour before cutting and serving. You may chill if you like, but we prefer the pie fresh and slightly warm.
